Station Rose is an artist duo from Vienna that has been honoring the "Kunstadio" with a new jingle at irregular intervals since 1988, but almost every year. While in media jargon a jingle is a short commercial to announce a program, station rose jingles can last for an entire hour. Like the previous editions, Station Rose Jingle 2014 also gives an overview of the ideas and artistic development of the artist group, socio-political issues and tendencies are reflected and forecast: "Surveillance meets Digital Art Forever. 'Nature Is Cool' and 'Pixel Land Art' meet Big Data. Sound meets wood & text, makes use of tried and tested structures from Techno, Psychedelic and Minimal Music. How are contradicting algorithms led astray? " One figure that appears again and again is Smaug, the deadly dragon who watches over the dwarves' immeasurable treasure after it has been unbuttoned. "The figure of J. R. R. Tolkien seems to us a fitting metaphor for capitalist circumstances today," say Station Rose.
